Unfortunate Overstatement

So I lied. This blog was updated...drum roll please... 0 times this summer! I must beg for your forgiveness because my body, in all of its fatigue, did not allow me to post on the beauty I like to call orientation. Thinking about the situation rationally, it is a good thing. Now I have time to digest the summer and to give you an overview rather than a play by play because in all honesty, that would get rather monotonous. So my plan is to highlight a section of orientation daily and go in depth. For instance, tomorrow will be about the team. The next day may deal with small groups and so on. Makes sense? Good :)

My body succumbs to fatigue yet again...

Tofu and a Kidnapping

So yesterday Mickey Blue, Rico Suave, Amber, Shay, and Dionne (Myself) decided to try something new for dinner. I've been cooking everyday this summer so I thought we needed to go out for a change. After hearing many rave reviews, we decided to dine at the infamous Grit on Prince Avenue. When we arrived we could smell the fresh pita bread baking in the new age ovens. Rico suggested that we sit outside; this was a fantastic idea because the weather was incredible. Sporting our sunglasses, we quickly scurried to the rod iron table and pulled up an additional chair so we could all dine together. The slight lean of the table added a unique addition to this one of a kind vegetarian joint. The menu was amazing; it tried to incorporate many different cooking styles such as Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean, and a wide array of sandwiches. To begin our meal, Shay ordered hummus with fresh pita bread. Wow, that was a hit. After studying the menu a bit more, I decided to order the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich which had a tofu, chicken-like patty. hmmm... tofu chicken-like patty. I was definitely going out on a limb here. Once the meal arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. This "patty" tasted exactly like chicken! It was accompanied by a "petite salad" with garlic dressing. That garlic dressing was "da bomb." After finishing our entree, we decided to get dessert. I order a slice of hummingbird cake which was more than filling. The spices within the cake were superb and the cream cheese icing was on point. The only suggestion I have is if you go to the Grit with friends, please realize that they DO NOT split checks. We found out the hard way. Overall, the experience at the Grit was fantastic.

So after this editorial like description of the Grit, where does a kidnapping come into play? At 1:00 AM Eastern Standard Time, I was standing in my living room about to go to bed. As I turned off the television, five individuals barged into my apartment and told me to stop what I was doing. I was forced to leave my apartment and retreat to another location called apartment 64. When I arrived, I was sat down and made to watch "The Matrix" and play super smash brothers. It was a horrible experience and I don't think I will be the same again. Oh the joys of summertime :)

What You Really Think Of Your Friends

Jessica is your soulmate.

You truly love Brad.

You consider Adam your true friend.

You know that Ade is always thinking of you.

You'll remember Matt for the rest of your life.

You secretly think Serena is creative, charming, and a bit too dramatic at times.

You secretly think that Jesse is colorful, impulsive, and a total risk taker.

You secretly think that Ryan is loyal and trustworthy to you. And that Ryan changes lovers faster than underwear.

You secretly think Anna is shy and nonconfrontational. And that Anna has a hidden internet romance.

You Are the Ace of Hearts

Youthful and playful, you love life and the world.
You have a kind spirit, and you bring happiness to everyone you know.

Artistic and bold, you see the world in bright colors.
And you certainly aren't afraid to express everything you see and feel.

You are sentimental, and your emotions are very deep.
You are easily swept away and easily hurt.

A gamble you should take: Blackjack

Your friends would describe you as: Unique

Your enemies would describe you as: Weepy

If you lived in Vegas, you would be: An up and coming chef or fashion designer

You Are the Middle Finger

A bit fragile and dependent on your friends, you're not nearly as hostile as you seem.

You are balanced, easy to get along with, and quite serious.

However, you can get angry and fed up with those around you. And you aren't afraid to show it!

You get along well with: The Index Finger

Stay away from: The Pinky

Your Brain is Blue

Of all the brain types, yours is the most mellow.
You tend to be in a meditative state most of the time. You don't try to think away your troubles.
Your thoughts are realistic, fresh, and honest. You truly see things as how they are.

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking about your friends, your surroundings, and your life.

The Creation of a Masterpiece

The title of this post may be a bit misleading; however, it is inevitably true. This life is the one and only chance I have to create a masterpiece, something magnificent and meaningful, and I shall guide you through the making of MY Mona Lisa.

This summer is going to be one of the most amazing summers, in fact one of the most amazing times of my life. After completing my sophomore year at the University of Georgia, I feel like I have grown immensely not only intellectually, but spiritually and emotionally as well. I owe thanks to all of the friendships that I have maintained and gained throughout this year. And on top of that, I have finally found a group where I know I belong: Alpha Kappa Psi. With all of this said, I am ready to take on the summer of 2007 with all of my might!

Here are my tentative plans for the summer:

1. May 12th: Kennesaw, Georgia- Hanging out with family and friends

2. Somewhere between May 17th and 20th: Return to Athens, GA- hang out in Athens for a couple of days

3. May 24th: Savannah, Brunswick, and Saint Simons Island, Georgia- visit some friends from AKPsi and enjoy the coast

4. May 29th: Athens, Georgia- Move into Creswell Hall for Orientation!!

I will be uploading pictures and posts about my many adventures and will also use this as a source for orientation information.

Remember,

You only have one time to create your masterpiece.
